This 100 classroom/lab hour course is designed to provide students with information on the proper technique to collect a quality lab specimen. Also, it provides a complete coverage of the most common CLIA waved tests in the ambulatory setting. The student will learn fundamental concepts of the basic knowledge related to the appropriate test and procedures. Students will get additional hands-on experience with a required 80 hour externship. Total course hours - 180. Certifications - OSHA, First Aid and CPR and CPT from the National Healthcareer Association.
During classroom instruction you will learn:
- Procedures and techniques required to be performed by a phlebotomist
- Hands-on practice drawing blood
- Infection control
- Medical terminology
- The circulatory system
- Cell types
Program cost Includes: classroom materials, supplies along with the cost of OSHA, First Aid and CPR, CPT examination, and WorkKeys assessments.
Program requirements: Must have high school diploma or GED. Students are required to take three WorkKeys assessments tests: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. Students will need navy blue scrub top and bottom, a Two-Step Mantoux TB test within 30 days of class, started the Hepatitis B series, Flu shot, Drug Screen and Background Check. All documentation will be needed prior to orientation.

**9/1/2020 and 1/19/2021 are orientation days. Orientations are from 4:15-9:15pm on these days.
