What you'll do:

  • Perform a variety of routine grounds and facility maintenance (e.g. mowing; trimming; weeding; painting; changing light bulbs; unclogging drains; lubricating motors; stripping and waxing floors; snow removal; moving office furniture; maintaining equipment, etc.)
  • Perform a variety of routine cleaning tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness of the facility (e.g. sweeping/ mopping/ buffing floors; emptying trash; cleaning and washing: windows, blinds, door knobs, walls, wood work, sinks, toilets, restrooms, replenish paper products, etc.)
  • Keep inventory of supplies and notifies supervisor of needed supplies, parts, misc. materials, etc.
  • Assists outside vendors with repairs, cleaning, etc., as needed
  • Maintains Safety Data and Inventory lists/spreadsheets
  • Proactively evaluates assigned location to determine daily work priorities, with input from supervisor
  • Follow all safety guidelines and company policies and procedures
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned, including helping in different departments

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is "Dedicated to Service"
  • Has earned a high school diploma or a GED, plus at least 6 months of semi-skilled work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Has a valid OH driver license
  • Is eligible to drive City vehicles under our vehicle insurance policy
  • Will take pride in the appearance of assigned location (inside and outside) and will proactively work to make the property look well maintained and presentable; who doesn't wait to be told to do something to go do it (sees it needs done and does it, depending on existing priorities)
  • Likes to work independently, but who can work as a team and take direction from time-to-time
  • Will work in various weather conditions found year round in Ohio
  • Can lift up to 50 pounds solo and move up to 80 pounds with assistance
  • Can pass a pre-employment physical and drug-test and who wants to work in a drug free workplace
  • Will always consider priority the number one priority, followed closely by customer service

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Wages: hourly pay is $15.50; plus annual increases as negotiated by AFSCME
  • Eligible day one for insurance, there is no waiting period!
