The Space Planner is responsible for design and layout of furniture & equipment for both project and non-project sales opportunities.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities

Work with School Specialty sales representatives and/or directly with customers to provide the required data files, drawings, renderings, or any additional information needed
Design and/or prepare drawings within company and customer requirements
Handle corrections and/or changes to new or existing drawings/renderings, and ensure the timely execution of these changes within a specified time frame
Handles ad hoc design projects, including initial design and layout; product/school logo designs; and special product needs
Handles all space planning, verifying the proper fit and design of all furniture products within multiple dimensional spaces
Determine that drawings/renderings have sufficient views, and allow proper interpretation of design intent and educational functionality
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CAD, Revit, and/or 3-D Studio Max
Develops and documents best design practices

Minimum Experience Requirements

Background in technical drawing, and/or architectural design/layout
Strong skills using CAD, Revit, 3-D Studio Max, or other equivalent software

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

Strong graphic design and space planning ability.
3 years professional experience.
Knowledge of and ability to properly utilize graphic arts principles of color, space, type and imagery.
Ability to effectively utilize graphic design to aid the professional sales approach to the given sales opportunity
Ability to work efficiently and quickly in deadline-driven environment.
Effective listening and communication skills, with specific skill of comprehending project originator’s objective and ability to communicate opportunities and limitations of graphic design.
Knowledge of educational furniture preferred
