Full Job Description

The Ironworker Foreman is a working foreman who is responsible for overseeing ironworker crews who are erecting structural and miscellaneous steel. This person will be responsible for performing welding and limited millwright functions, as well as directly overseeing others performing these same functions.

Primary responsibilities include: unloading, shaking out, and organizing steel materials; erecting columns, beams, bar joists, roof and floor angle, kicker brace, support channel, etc; welding and/or completing bolt connections per job specifics; cutting steel; installing ladders, railings, etc.; and other miscellaneous duties per the full job description.


  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Rigging experience required
  • Mechanical ability to perform millwright type functions required
  • Sufficient education or an equivalent of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform duties of the role
  • 10 hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to work at heights without fear
  • Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid, and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
  • Must willing and able to travel to jobsites which may require overnight stays away from home
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Must have a good worth ethic and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities and sizes of materials required
  • Ability to use equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
