General Purpose:

The Housing Inspector will schedule and inspect dwelling units to determine if the units meet the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) standards, local building codes and are decent, safe, and sanitary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspect units to determine if they meet the Housing Quality Standards.

Maintain and continually update files on unit status.

Maintain monthly inspection list and send notification to residents.

Notify the Management team regarding inspection results.

Perform re-inspections to determine if deficiencies have been corrected.

Maintain current knowledge of City and state building code requirements.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications:

Housing related field: 1 year (Preferred)

Construction related field: At least 3 years (Required)


Associate (Preferred)

Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database programs.

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets the insurability requirements of the Authority’s insurance provider. Maintains required licensures and certification, if any.

Physical Requirements. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

Physical demands may include kneeling, reaching, pushing, fingering, manipulating, talking, hearing, sitting for extended periods, crouching, standing for extended periods, stooping, walking, lifting up to 10 lbs. and repetitive motion using a keyboard, telephone and calculator. The visual acuity requirements include viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.

Office environment and walking of units while inspecting them.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $18.00 per hour
