POSITION: Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator

LOCATION: Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center, 1783 State Route 60, Ashland, Ohio 44805

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and work experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or closely related field.
  • Professional experience in public relations and/or media work.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.
  • Effective organizational, planning and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in graphic design, photography and a variety of writing styles.
  • Proficiency in spelling, proofreading and correct use of grammar.
  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements.

Qualifications

  • Directs the preparation of public relations materials. Plans and manages production timelines.
  • Maintains open communication with staff, home schools and the community.
  • Coordinates school funding campaigns in conjunction with Treasurer & Superintendent.
  • Manages district website in conjunction with Technology Supervisor.
  • Utilizes multiple technologies/social media to disseminate and gather information.
  • Coordinates/Prepares district website, social media, and other marketing materials as needed.
  • Works with Superintendent to ensure that communication materials are accurate and
  • appropriate.
  • Works with staff to develop articles publicizing school programs and activities.
  • Develops recruiting strategies and assists in the implementation of those initiatives.
  • Accentuates student accomplishments and the support of business and industry to demonstrate the benefits and results of career-technical education.
  • Serves as liaison between the district and media.
  • Responsible for the District brand and ensures logo integrity online and on materials with input from the Superintendent.
  • Researches the latest technology, social media and software tools to promote and enhance career technical awareness.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with the community and provides prompt responses to requests for public information about the district and district policies.
  • Presents the ACWHCC story to civic organizations and as requested for other target groups.
  • Coordinates information, makes updates and works with the web design company to maintain the ACWHCC Web site. Current Content Management System (CMS) knowledge and experience.
  • Supervises and/or creates advertisements.
  • Develops marketing plan and budget. Generates requisitions. Works with special grant budgets as needed.
  • Prepares marketing materials and displays. Makes marketing items available for students, staff, and administration.
  • Implements the District’s social media strategy, developing brand awareness, generating inbound traffic and encouraging support of career technical education with stakeholders to ensure effectiveness and awareness of district mission, vision and goals.
  • Oversight of Adult Education, High School and District marketing activities.
  • Advocates for the District in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Monitors effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs and analyzes, reviews and reports on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.
  • Encourages community participation in school-sponsored activities and takes advantage of opportunities to promote district programs and enhance public relations.
  • Maintains a professional appearance. Wears work attire appropriate for the position.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
  • Knowledge of American with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.).
  • Follows district Employee Code of Conduct.

START DATE: February 24, 2020

SALARY RANGE: Appropriate placement on the Board adopted Salary Schedule based on certification/licensure, qualifications, education and experience.

WORK YEAR: 260 days
