Congratulations to Jillian Ericsson for being chosen for the Byron Carmean Award-the most prestigious award at Pioneer! Byron Carmean was Superintendent of the Shelby City Schools for 22 years. Upon his retirement from Shelby in 1968 he became the first Assistant Superintendent of Pioneer during its construction stage and during the first year of operation. Mr. Carmean left Pioneer in 1969 and is now deceased. Mr. Carmean is remembered for his extremely personal and friendly personality; his consistent willingness to help out; his keen dedication to education and the pursuit of excellence; his impeccable qualities of high character and his desire to serve his church, family, community and school. He was truly a great person. Upon his retirement from Pioneer a committee was formed to provide a remembrance to Mr. Carmean. The selection was the BYRON CARMEAN CHARACTER, DEDICATION AND SERVICE AWARD which could be presented annually to a deserving senior student. The award would be considered the most prestigious award which could be bestowed upon a senior completing his/her education at the Pioneer Career and Technology Center. The award has been presented annually since 1969.

Pioneer's National Technical Honors Society's Food Feud Challenge has delivered all the food donated to the FISH Food Pantry in Shelby. In a close race, Exercise Science came in second and the lab that collected the most food was Carpentry with over 600 items!

On Thursday, May 6, Pioneer will have one last recording session for any senior that missed their timeslot to be recorded for Senior Moments. Filming will be in the arena at 8:30am. Graduation gowns will be available to borrow if you do not have one. This will be the last recording session offered.

Lexington, Plymouth and Shelby Seniors: Your Jostens Rep will be here THURSDAY, APRIL 29TH during lunch, in the Hospitality Room across from the cafeteria, to distribute your items. Your balance must be paid in full to receive your items. You can pay online at www.jostens.com or call 1-800-JOSTENS to make a payment over the phone and we encourage you to do so prior to delivery day. Only cash or money order are accepted the day of delivery.

Order 2020-2021 yearbooks during all 3 lunches next Tuesday and Thursday (April 27 & 29). Pay with cash or a check made out to Pioneer for $25. Credit/Debit card orders can be placed in distribution at any time. WE ONLY PRINT THE NUMBER OF COPIES THAT ARE SOLD! Pioneer will be filming Senior Moments on May 3 & 4. All seniors will need to bring their home school graduation gowns to Pioneer. Students will not need to bring their caps. There will be gowns available for those who do not have one. Jostens will be delivering the remainder of the caps and gowns on April 29th. Seniors may also wear any honors cords they have received. Online and EJP seniors should contact their lab instructors for more information. Please make sure that you take your gown out of the bag by April 30th and hang it by the shower or steam it so that it is not wrinkly for the filming.

Pioneer Prom tickets on sale now! Prom is Saturday, May 15 7:30-10:30 in the Pioneer Arena Tickets are available for purchase at lunch $15 each in advance or $20 at the door Guest Forms are due by Thursday, May 13 to bring someone who does not attend Pioneer.
